Throughout the last decade, and for many of us far before that, more and more companies are working tirelessly to incorporate “green” methods into everyday workplace activities. From the elimination of disposable coffee and water cups to better insulation of office buildings, companies are taking a more and more responsible approach to conservation.
But why should we do this?
There are many reasons, the greatest of which is to protect our planet. But there are many, many other reasons for making this transition and LeadCrafters is striving daily toward this effort. Here are some ways that we have “Gone Green”:
- No Paper Invoicing – no envelopes, no printing, no stamps, low carbon footprint
- Cloud Storage and Service: All services, software, backups, storage and management happen at a cloud level where carbon footprints are actively monitored and efficiently managed.
- All offices are home offices so no empty space is powered or air conditioned, ever.
- Encouraging paperless payments: We accept credit cards, paypal, electronic checks and many times offer incentives for selecting these options.
- Supporting education and application of ‘footprint free” choices among management, staff and families alike.
- Online and Mobile Dashboards allow data management and communication without printing.
- And many more, although smaller efforts, that have a measured impact when practiced regularly.
Now, why should you participate? Because it’s the responsible thing to do. It’s ecologically, ethically, AND fiscally responsible.
A simple bill payment using an electronic method such as a credit card or electronic check will save you many things. There are the obvious.
- The check stock itself is not cheap. Checks are typically around 10 cents a piece.
- The envelope: about 4 cents
- The stamp: about 44 cents
- The ink: about 3 cents to print a check.
And then the handling of it all. Paper checks must be printed which requires a printer, wear and tear on that device, it must be added to outgoing mail, distributed by a mail center and driven across the country in many cases, and then hand delivered to the recipient, who then has to drive it to the bank, where it is handled some more.
A recurring electronic payment has Two steps for both parties (after the one time setup), neither requiring paper or waste:
- Entering into your accounting software, and
- Reconciling against your statements.
That’s it. Are you spending too much to pay your vendors, staff, contractors? Can you “Go MORE Green”? We think so.
